Back to school will be a smash at Midtown
Center's "Back-to-School Bash"!
Midtown Center is holding its third annual Back-to-School Bash on Saturday,
August 16th from 1pm – 3pm. The fun will kick off with a Fashion Show written,
choreographed and starring Teen Approach members, and continue with Radio Disney
hosting a "High School Musical" lip sync talent show where audience members have
a chance to join in or just cheer on their favorite performers. There will be
music, dancing, games and prizes, too.
"We certainly upped the "fun factor" this year. Not only will we have a
fantastic fashion show again from the talented kids at Teen Approach, but Radio
Disney definitely delivers when it comes to getting the crowd pumped and having
a great time" said Kristie Moss, senior property manager of Midtown Center .
Midtown Center continues to partner with community groups and programs to
provide essential information along with the fun. In addition to Teen Approach,
this year's Bash will have representatives from SDC Head Start, the Milwaukee
Public Library and the Milwaukee Police Department bringing information on
safety and other programs to assist community members. The Milwaukee Courier is
a sponsor of the event.
The first 200 kids who enter their name in the raffle for prizes from Midtown
Center stores and Radio Disney will also receive a back pack filled with school
supplies courtesy of Midtown Center . America 's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses,
Applebee's, Cousins Subs, Dots, Pizza Hut and Wal-Mart are some of the retailers
providing gift cards and other raffle prize merchandise.
The event is the center piece of the Back-to-School Sale weekend that Midtown
Center is holding from August 15th to August 18th, celebrating the Grand Opening
of Phase II stores including Casual Male XL, Dots, Fashion Bug, GNC and Simply
Fashion. The event will be held in the center parking lot in front of Wal-Mart
and Best Price Fashions.
For more information, and a raffle form kids can fill out and bring to the
event, go to Midtown Center 's website at

Next Act's Summer Theatre for Teens Tour 2008 |
 |
|
Teens participated and worked hard
this summer for six weeks developing their original musical
theatre piece, TRUE STORY: YOU DON'T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND. The
various scenes that take place on stage are funny and
ridiculous, but each closely mirrors real social issues the
students face in their daily lives. Karen Estrada and Doug
Jarecki took over the teaching reins for this year's program,
along with choreographer, Dani Kuepper (Danceworks Artistic
Director) and musician Jason Powell. (Photo by Harry Kemp) |
